The World of The Keeper of The Balance
The Keeper of the Balance is a story that takes place in Akaladia, a world that Tito likes to describe as “an alternate version of Earth in a parallel universe.”
Map of planet Akaladia
Five thousand years ago, young Tekwani son of Sekentin went into the Heart of the Mangrove, the deadliest region in the Hintala Jungle, to face the trial demanded of all aspiring hunters and warriors in his tribe. Deep in the Heart of the Mangrove, Tekwani discovered a two-meter tall, leaden monolith that had been standing in a clearing since time immemorial.
When the young hunter and warrior hopeful set his hand against the monolith’s coarse, rocky surface he was bestowed with the power to enter Khevala in the flesh, the Intangible World known to some as the spiritual dimension. With this new, amazing ability, Tekwani established a connection with Adijana, the Supreme Conscience of Creation. And so it was that Tekwani son of Sekentin unveiled the mysteries and the secrets behind Universal Balance.
With time, Tekwani founded the Sacred Order of the Tulakdhar, the Bearers of Balance, a brethren that was sworn to uphold Balance all across the world, leading Akaladia to a Golden Age of peace and prosperity for all. Alas, greed and corruption soon settled in and many were the rulers of old who desired to wield the power of the Bearers of Balance.
Antinus Craeus, last Lord Regent of the Tulakdhar, took possession of the Inforacle, the inter-dimensional monolith that Tekwani had discovered in the midst of the Jungle all those centuries ago, and cracked it to do his bidding. Craeus turned Akaladia’s twelve most powerful, twisted and crooked rulers to his cause and named them the Vardikhar: Those Who Were Chosen or Selected to Rule, better known as the Selected.
So it came to pass that three thousand years after Tekwani’s passing, the Tulakdhar were betrayed by their own Lord Regent and Akaladia was torn by war, catastrophe and disaster for nearly two thousand years.
Nowadays, nothing is what it seems in Akaladia. Borders between countries and nations have been erased, and war is nothing but a painful memory of a distant, jaded past that none wish to remember. Alas, when an ill-fated omen foretells the imminent fall of the secret society of the Selected, the masters of Akaladia will stop at nothing, not only to remain in power but to secure their own survival.
In a world where all things magical and spiritual have become nothing but laughable superstitions in the minds of the many, only magic and spirituality shall stand between the Selected and their final goal: stripping the people of Akaladia of the most precious and valuable thing that a human being can possess, their soul. Thirteen is the number of people who can stop the Selected from reaching their goal . . . and only one of them is aware of the terrible fate awaiting his world.
Amidst secret conspiracies, fake identities, betrayals, alliances and deals made behind closed doors, the fate of Universal Balance will hang on a limb when the winds of war blow again across Akaladia for the first time in more than a thousand years. Only the greatest source of knowledge known to man may determine the conflict's final outcome: the Pinnacle of Power, forever kept safe and secret by the Great Master of the Selected.
